Reading The Old Man and the Sea from the newly developed eco-critical point of view, this thesis analyses the natural ecology so that we will drop off the habitual dualism and anthropocentrism. Only in this way can we comprehend the humane significance included in nature and know that the true value of the whole world lies in its variety and diversity.
