中国环境法起步受到世界引领，发展受世界推动，法律体系的形成受世界影响，很多制度内容都借鉴世界经验。中国环境法受世界影响的原因在于：我国环境法起步较晚，世界环境法比较健全，环境问题的共同性和应对的一致性使环境法借鉴和移植成为可能。世界影响下中国环境法的迷失表现在：借鉴的规则一定程度上脱离了本土，使其效力大打折扣；对某些制度领会不够透彻，致使其被引入后失真；环境法体系遗留空白；丧失国际话语权。未来中国环境法应当更加积极参与国际环境合作，检讨扣纠正世界的不良影响，关注中国的环境法问题，重点是农村环境法和自然资源保护法。
