| Abstract: | More attention has been paid to subject-based English teaching recently, which is complementary to college English teaching. The paper explains the nature of English for tourism, analyses its teaching purpose and characteristics. Then it points out that its teaching should put the students' needs in the first place, emphasize cultural teaching, aim at improving the intercultural communicative abilities and professional skills of the students. Lastly it offers some suggestions. |
