"July" and Method for Interpreting Ancient Chinese Literary Works

The focus of teaching "July", is not on its literary value but on helping students learn how to interpret ancient Chinese literary works. We should not label it as ancient Chinese literary works as social philistinism does. Instead, we should value its historical genuineness, grasp its connotation of sensibility by studying the literary text with an artistic eye. Students should know how to make critical interpretation of ancient texts and have the ability and courage to doubt the views of authorities. They should also pay attention to the latest research results and academic developments.
