| Abstract: | This article questions the existing definition of hyperbole, states that in addition to the hyperbole based on the overstatement of facts, another type of hyperbole exists---the hypothetical exaggeration ; and concludes that the existing definition is inadequate as it is unable to cover the overall features of hyperbole.The author tries to redefine hyperbole and holds that the expression of hyperbole is not based on the reference to facts but on the intention to create something different and unique. |
