In this paper, we introduce a new adaptive Type-I progressive hybrid censoring scheme, which has some advantages over the progressive hybrid censoring schemes already discussed in the literature. Based on an adaptive Type-I progressively hybrid censored sample, we derive the exact distribution of the maximum-likelihood estimator (MLE) of the mean lifetime of an exponential distribution as well as confidence intervals for the failure rate using exact distribution, asymptotic distribution, and three parametric bootstrap resampling methods. Furthermore, we provide computational formula for the expected number of failures and investigate the performance of the point and interval estimation for the failure rate in this case. An alternative simple form for the distribution of the MLE under adaptive Type-II progressive hybrid censoring scheme proposed by Ng et al. [Statistical analysis of exponential lifetimes under an adaptive Type-II progressive censoring scheme, Naval Res. Logist. 56 (2009), pp. 687–698] is obtained. Finally, from the exact distribution of the MLE, we establish the explicit expression for the Bayes risk of a sampling plan under adaptive Type-II progressive hybrid censoring scheme when a general loss function is used, and present some optimal Bayes solutions under four different progressive hybrid censoring schemes to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

Lin et al. [Exact Bayesian variable sampling plans for the exponential distribution with progressive hybrid censoring, J. Stat. Comput. Simul. 81 (2011), pp. 873–882] claimed to have derived exact Bayesian sampling plans for exponential distributions with progressive hybrid censoring. We comment on the accuracy of the design parameters of their proposed sampling plans and the associated Bayes risks given in tables of Lin et al. [Exact Bayesian variable sampling plans for the exponential distribution with progressive hybrid censoring, J. Stat. Comput. Simul. 81 (2011), pp. 873–882]. Counter-examples to their claim are provided.  相似文献

This paper considers Bayesian sampling plans for exponential distribution with random censoring. The efficient Bayesian sampling plan for a general loss function is derived. This sampling plan possesses the property that it may make decisions prior to the end of the life test experiment, and its decision function is the same as the Bayes decision function which makes decisions based on data collected at the end of the life test experiment. Compared with the optimal Bayesian sampling plan of Chen et al. (2004), the efficient Bayesian sampling plan has the smaller Bayes risk due to the less duration time of life test experiment. Computations of the efficient Bayes risks for the conjugate prior are given. Numerical comparisons between the proposed efficient Bayesian sampling plan and the optimal Bayesian sampling plan of Chen et al. (2004) under two special decision losses, including the quadratic decision loss, are provided. Numerical results also demonstrate that the performance of the proposed efficient sampling plan is superior to that of the optimal sampling plan by Chen et al. (2004).  相似文献

Type-I and Type-II censoring schemes are the widely used censoring schemes available for life testing experiments. A mixture of Type-I and Type-II censoring schemes is known as a hybrid censoring scheme. Different hybrid censoring schemes have been introduced in recent years. In the last few years, a progressive censoring scheme has also received considerable attention. In this article, we mainly consider the Bayesian inference of the unknown parameters of two-parameter exponential distribution under different hybrid and progressive censoring schemes. It is observed that in general the Bayes estimate and the associated credible interval of any function of the unknown parameters, cannot be obtained in explicit form. We propose to use the Monte Carlo sampling procedure to compute the Bayes estimate and also to construct the associated credible interval. Monte Carlo Simulation experiments have been performed to see the effectiveness of the proposed method in case of Type-I hybrid censored samples. The performances are quite satisfactory. One data analysis has been performed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper deals with Bayesian estimation and prediction for the inverse Weibull distribution with shape parameter α and scale parameter λ under general progressive censoring. We prove that the posterior conditional density functions of α and λ are both log-concave based on the assumption that λ has a gamma prior distribution and α follows a prior distribution with log-concave density. Then, we present the Gibbs sampling strategy to estimate under squared-error loss any function of the unknown parameter vector (α, λ) and find credible intervals, as well as to obtain prediction intervals for future order statistics. Monte Carlo simulations are given to compare the performance of Bayesian estimators derived via Gibbs sampling with the corresponding maximum likelihood estimators, and a real data analysis is discussed in order to illustrate the proposed procedure. Finally, we extend the developed methodology to other two-parameter distributions, including the Weibull, Burr type XII, and flexible Weibull distributions, and also to general progressive hybrid censoring.  相似文献

This article deals with progressive first-failure censoring, which is a generalization of progressive censoring. We derive maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters and reliability characteristics of generalized inverted exponential distribution using progressive first-failure censored samples. The asymptotic confidence intervals and coverage probabilities for the parameters are obtained based on the observed Fisher's information matrix. Bayes estimators of the parameters and reliability characteristics under squared error loss function are obtained using the Lindley approximation and importance sampling methods. Also, highest posterior density credible intervals for the parameters are computed using importance sampling procedure. A Monte Carlo simulation study is conducted to analyse the performance of the estimators derived in the article. A real data set is discussed for illustration purposes. Finally, an optimal censoring scheme has been suggested using different optimality criteria.  相似文献

In this article, we apply the simulated annealing algorithm to determine optimally spaced inspection times for the two-parameter Weibull distribution for any given progressive Type-I grouped censoring plan. We examine how the asymptotic relative efficiencies of the estimates are affected by the position of the monitoring points and the number of monitoring points used. A comparison of different inspection plans is made that will enable the user to select a plan for a specified quality goal. Using the same algorithm, we can also determine an optimal progressive Type-I grouped censoring plan when the inspection times and the expected proportions of total failures in the experiment are pre-fixed. Finally, we discuss the sample size and the acceptance constant of the progressively Type-I grouped censored reliability sampling plan when the optimal inspection times are used.  相似文献

For the conventional type-II hybrid censoring scheme (HCS) in Childs et al., a Bayesian variable sampling plan among the class of the maximum likelihood estimators was derived by Lin et al. under the loss function, which does not include the cost of experimental time. Instead of taking the conventional type-II hybrid censoring scheme, a persuasive argument leads to taking the modified type-II hybrid censoring scheme (MHCS) if the cost of experimental time is included in the loss function. In this article, we apply the decision-theoretic approach for the concerned acceptance sampling. With the type-II MHCS, based on a sufficient statistics, the optimal Bayesian sampling plan is derived under a general loss function. Furthermore, for the conjugate prior distribution, the closed-form formula of the Bayes decision rule can be obtained under the quadratic decision loss. Numerical study is given to demonstrate the performance of the proposed Bayesian sampling plan.  相似文献

In this paper, the estimation of parameters, reliability and hazard functions of a inverted exponentiated half logistic distribution (IEHLD) from progressive Type II censored data has been considered. The Bayes estimates for progressive Type II censored IEHLD under asymmetric and symmetric loss functions such as squared error, general entropy and linex loss function are provided. The Bayes estimates for progressive Type II censored IEHLD parameters, reliability and hazard functions are also obtained under the balanced loss functions. However, the Bayes estimates cannot be obtained explicitly, Lindley approximation method and importance sampling procedure are considered to obtain the Bayes estimates. Furthermore, the asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimates is used to obtain the approximate confidence intervals. The highest posterior density credible intervals of the parameters based on importance sampling procedure are computed. Simulations are performed to see the performance of the proposed estimates. For illustrative purposes, two data sets have been analyzed.  相似文献

This article provides a simple expression of the Fisher information matrix about the unknown parameter(s) of the underlying lifetime model under the generalized progressive hybrid censoring scheme. The expressions of the expected number of failures and the expected duration of life test are also derived. Exponential and Weibull lifetime models are considered for numerical illustrations. Finally, Fisher information-based optimal schemes are discussed for the Weibull lifetime model.  相似文献

In this paper, the design of reliability sampling plans for the Pareto lifetime model under progressive Type-II right censoring is considered. Sampling plans are derived using the decision theoretic approach with a suitable loss or cost function that consists of sampling cost, rejection cost, and acceptance cost. The decision rule is based on the estimated reliability function. Plans are constructed within the Bayesian context using the natural conjugate prior. Simulations for evaluating the Bayes risk are carried out and the optimal sampling plans are reported for various sample sizes, observed number of failures and removal probabilities.  相似文献

A generalized Type-I progressive hybrid censoring scheme was proposed recently to overcome the limitations of the progressive hybrid censoring scheme. In this article, we provide a robust Bayesian method to estimate the unknown parameters of the two-parameter exponential distribution of a generalized Type-I progressive hybrid censored sample. For each parameter, we derive the marginal posterior density functions and the corresponding Bayesian estimators under the squared error loss function. To assess the proposed method, Monte Carlo simulations are performed using a real dataset.  相似文献

A sampling plan with a polynomial loss function for the exponential distribution is considered. From the distribution of the maximum likelihood estimator of the mean of an exponential distribution based on Type-I and Type-II hybrid censored samples, we obtain an explicit expression for the Bayes risk of a sampling plan with a quadratic loss function. Some numerical examples and comparisons are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, and a robustness study reveals that the proposed optimal sampling plans are quite robust.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Distributions of the maximum likelihood estimators (MLEs) in Type-II (progressive) hybrid censoring based on two-parameter exponential distributions have been obtained using a moment generating function approach. Although resulting in explicit expressions, the representations are complicated alternating sums. Using the spacings-based approach of Cramer and Balakrishnan [On some exact distributional results based on Type-I progressively hybrid censored data from exponential distributions. Statist Methodol. 2013;10:128–150], we derive simple expressions for the exact density and distribution functions of the MLEs in terms of B-spline functions. These representations can be easily implemented on a computer and provide an efficient method to compute density and distribution functions as well as moments of Type-II (progressively) hybrid censored order statistics.  相似文献

The hybrid censoring scheme is a mixture of Type-I and Type-II censoring schemes. Based on hybrid censored samples, we first derive the maximum likelihood estimators of the unknown parameters and the expected Fisher’s information matrix of the generalized inverted exponential distribution (GIED). Monte Carlo simulations are performed to study the performance of the maximum likelihood estimators. Next we consider Bayes estimation under the squared error loss function. These Bayes estimates are evaluated by applying Lindley’s approximation method, the importance sampling procedure and Metropolis–Hastings algorithm. The importance sampling technique is used to compute the highest posterior density credible intervals. Two data sets are analyzed for illustrative purposes. Finally, we discuss a method of obtaining the optimum hybrid censoring scheme.  相似文献

The Type-II progressive hybrid censoring scheme has received wide attention, but it has a disadvantage in that long time may be required to complete the life test. The generalized progressive Type-II hybrid censoring scheme has recently been proposed to solve this problem. Under the censoring scheme, the time on test does not exceed a predetermined time. In this paper, we propose a robust Bayesian approach based on a hierarchical structure when the generalized progressive Type-II hybrid censored sample has a two-parameter exponential distribution. For unknown parameters, marginal posterior distributions are provided in closed forms, and their statistical properties are discussed. To examine the robustness of the proposed method, Monte Carlo simulations are conducted and a real data set is analyzed. Further, the quality and adequacy of the proposed model are evaluated in an analysis based on the real data.  相似文献

We study variable sampling plans for exponential distributions based on type-I hybrid censored samples. For this problem, two sampling plans based on the non-failure sample proportion and the conditional maximum likelihood estimator are proposed by Chen et al. [J. Chen, W. Chou, H. Wu, and H. Zhou, Designing acceptance sampling schemes for life testing with mixed censoring, Naval Res. Logist. 51 (2004), pp. 597–612] and Lin et al. [C.-T. Lin, Y.-L. Huang, and N. Balakrishnan, Exact Bayesian variable sampling plans for the exponential distribution based on type-I and type-II censored samples, Commun. Statist. Simul. Comput. 37 (2008), pp. 1101–1116], respectively. From the theoretic decision point of view, the preceding two sampling plans are not optimal due to their decision functions not being the Bayes decision functions. In this article, we consider the decision theoretic approach, and the optimal Bayesian sampling plan based on sufficient statistics is derived under a general loss function. Furthermore, for the conjugate prior distribution, the closed-form formula of the Bayes decision rule can be obtained under either the linear or quadratic decision loss. The resulting Bayesian sampling plan has the minimum Bayes risk, and hence it is better than the sampling plans proposed by Chen et al. (2004) and Lin et al. (2008). Numerical comparisons are given and demonstrate that the performance of the proposed Bayesian sampling plan is superior to that of Chen et al. (2004) and Lin et al. (2008).  相似文献

In this paper, a competing risks model is considered under adaptive type-I progressive hybrid censoring scheme (AT-I PHCS). The lifetimes of the latent failure times have Weibull distributions with the same shape parameter. We investigate the maximum likelihood estimation of the parameters. Bayes estimates of the parameters are obtained based on squared error and LINEX loss functions under the assumption of independent gamma priors. We propose to apply Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) techniques to carry out a Bayesian estimation procedure and in turn calculate the credible intervals. To evaluate the performance of the estimators, a simulation study is carried out.  相似文献

In this article, we deal with a two-parameter exponentiated half-logistic distribution. We consider the estimation of unknown parameters, the associated reliability function and the hazard rate function under progressive Type II censoring. Maximum likelihood estimates (M LEs) are proposed for unknown quantities. Bayes estimates are derived with respect to squared error, linex and entropy loss functions. Approximate explicit expressions for all Bayes estimates are obtained using the Lindley method. We also use importance sampling scheme to compute the Bayes estimates. Markov Chain Monte Carlo samples are further used to produce credible intervals for the unknown parameters. Asymptotic confidence intervals are constructed using the normality property of the MLEs. For comparison purposes, bootstrap-p and bootstrap-t confidence intervals are also constructed. A comprehensive numerical study is performed to compare the proposed estimates. Finally, a real-life data set is analysed to illustrate the proposed methods of estimation.  相似文献
