ABSTRACT The home care industry experiences similar problems with the recruitment and retention of direct care workers (DCWs) as those faced by institutions, and it is important to identify strategies to help retain and grow this important workforce. The empowerment of DCWs has been shown to be an effective strategy for increasing job satisfaction and decreasing turnover in nursing homes but has not been studied in home care. Using Kanter’s organizational theory of empowerment, including structural empowerment (structure of opportunity, access to resources, access to information, and access to support) and psychological empowerment (meaning, competence, self-determination or autonomy, and impact) this study examined whether home care workers (HCWs) feel empowered in carrying out their jobs. An exploratory, qualitative study of 12 HCWs, recruited from two states in the United States, found high levels of both structural and psychological empowerment among research participants, as well as a number of disempowering aspects of their job. Findings suggest ways to support elements of the work that HCWs find empowering and decrease elements that contribute to job dissatisfaction and turnover. 相似文献

In each study testing the survival experience of one or more populations, one must not only choose an appropriate class of tests, but further an appropriate weight function. As the optimal choice depends on the true shape of the hazard ratio, one is often not capable of getting the best results with respect to a specific dataset. For the univariate case several methods were proposed to conquer this problem. However, most of the interesting datasets contain multivariate observations nowadays. In this work we propose a multivariate version of a method based on multiple constrained censored empirical likelihood where the constraints are formulated as linear functionals of the cumulative hazard functions. By considering the conditional hazards, we take the correlation between the components into account with the goal of obtaining a test that exhibits a high power irrespective of the shape of the hazard ratio under the alternative hypothesis. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThis Type 4 (emic-and-etic) indigenous cross-case/cross-nation comparative study compares the results of two Type 3 (emic-as-emic) indigenous replication studies of effective and ineffective managerial behaviour carried out within private companies in India and South Korea respectively. The method used was ‘realist qualitative content analysis’ involving inductive open and axial coding. Of the Indian findings 100% were found to be convergent in meaning with 94.43% of the equivalent South Korean findings. This has led to the identification of a two-factor emergent Asian behavioural model of perceived managerial and leadership effectiveness comprised of 16 positive (effective) and 6 negative (ineffective) generic behavioural criteria. These criteria could be used in both countries to critically review and improve extant, or develop new, competency-based management/leadership development programmes. The research findings lend no support to claims that national culture has a major impact on managerial and leadership practices, styles, and effectiveness. 相似文献

随着互联网技术的迅猛发展,高校工会新媒体建设势在必行。上海高校工会新媒体建设在全国处于领先地位,但仍存在诸多不足。通过对105篇高校工会互联网建设相关文献和上海市66所高校工会官方网站以及微信公众号研究发现,高校工会互联网建设的相关研究主要兴起于2015年,以思辨研究为主,其中互联网环境下高校工会工作方式创新是当下最热门的研究主题;上海66所高校中有56.06%的工会建立了工会网站,但只有28.79%的工会创建了微信公众号,且主要集中在本科院校;高校工会网站基本达到"形"的完善,但普遍存在"质"不高的共性,在微信公众号运营上,近60%的高校工会只限于新闻发布和活动公告。因此,高校工会应该树立工会工作互联网思维,优化工会工作网上平台和提升工会队伍信息化能力建设。 相似文献

文章从产品市场链的视角出发,以美国代表性证券化产品CDO为例,从理论机理和实证检验两个方面研究了资产证券化与广义金融市场的动态关系。结果表明:资产证券化把房地产市场、信贷市场、债券市场和股票市场紧密联系在一起,形成一种独特的市场链结构,该市场链反映出证券化产品与各个金融市场之间的强弱关系以及风险传导顺序;短期内证券化产品与市场链上的远端市场关系很弱,长期内证券化产品与所有金融市场均保持一种稳定正向关系,说明证券化产品如若发生风险暴露,短期内风险只会在市场链的近端市场发生传导而不会影响到远端市场,但在长期,风险则会通过市场链传递给整个金融系统,最终可能引发市场动荡。 相似文献

In this article, the employment characteristics of pre-industrial and industrial cohorts of deaf men and women are compared with each other, as well as with a cohort of non-disabled siblings. The aim is to determine the extent to which the employment patterns of deaf persons lined up with those of non-disabled people and to see how nineteenth-century industrialization processes influenced their employment opportunities. This article challenges the widely held assumption that the nineteenth century constituted a definitive break by arguing that the professional lives of deaf people were not necessarily better before industrialization. Moreover, I demonstrate that the development of deaf schools in the course of the nineteenth century opened a new range of career opportunities for deaf individuals. 相似文献
