Based on Hemingway’s Principle of Iceberg, this paper falls to explore such four aspects in The Old Man and the Sea as Manolin＇s physical force, Cuban customs, Hemingway’s written style and many details described in the book, and draws the conclusion that the ＂so-called boy＂ Manolin is actually an adult about twenty years old. This ＂corner of iceberg＂ surely will provide a new perspective for the reader to get a renewed appreciation and a richer understanding of this masterpiece and to avoid doubts.
