对宋诗的批评,元氏从＂风雅正体＂着眼;严氏从＂别材别趣＂着眼。关于纠正江西派＂资书以为诗＂弊端的措施,元氏主张开阔视野,写真景,咏真情;严氏主张学习盛唐诗歌,重在＂兴趣＂。在宗唐方面,元氏不分时段,继承面广,侧重于表达的内容,对王安石《唐百家诗选》多选中、晚唐诗也予肯定,对韩愈诗推奖甚力;严氏划分时段,独推盛唐,侧重于内容的表达,对王安石诗选、韩愈诗作极为不满。

A Comparision Between Yuan Haowen's and Yan Yu's Poetics of Preferring Song Poetry to Tang Poetry

Yuan Haowen＇s criticism of the Song poetry focuses on its deviation from the true Ode style while Yan Yu＇s on its want of special ability and interests. To countermeasure the Jiangxi School＇s argument of borrowing from the ancients in writing poems,Yuan suggests that poets broaden their ken and represent real scenes and feelings whereas Yan stresses ＂interest＂ and calls for learning from the Tang poetry. While Yuan＇s preference to the poetry is not restrained by time and content so that he is for Wang Anshi＇s choice of the Middle and Late Tang poets in his Selection of One Hundred Tang Poets＇ Works,Yan stresses the division of time and attaches most importance to the poetry of the prime time of the Tang Dynasty that his emphasis on content justifies his discontent with Wang＇s selection and Han Yu＇s poetry.
