医学传教与近代中国外交

医学传教是基督教在华诸多传教方式中的一种。在近代中国特殊的政治背景下,医学传教对近代中国外交产生了一定影响。一些医学传教士充任本国领事和外交官,有的以客卿身份参与外交,有的则积极对外交施加影响,他们在不同程度上对近代中国外交产生了直接或间接影响。民国时期,由于教会医疗事业的本土化、中国外交的近代化等原因,医学传教对民国对外交涉只有微弱的影响,仅表现为有限的个案。

Medical Mission and Modern China's Diplomacy

Medical mission was one of the methods of Christian mission.Under modern China's special political background,it had some effects on Chinese diplomacy.Some medical missionary acted as their homeland's diplomats.Some acted as other countries' diplomats.Some had their influence on diplomacy between China and other countries.At different degree,they affected late Qing Dynasty's diplomacy directly or indirectly.But in the People's Republic of China,because of medical missionary exterprise's adaptation to China and the modernization of Chinese diplomacy,it had little effect on China's diplomacy,only on some diplomatic affairs.
