从归化到异化——《天路历程》汉译本比较

归化和异化翻译策略的争论可谓贯穿中外翻译史的始终,其优劣和取舍众说纷纭.约翰·班扬的《天路历程》在西方一向被公认为基督教文化的经典,很早便受到传教士的关注、并被译介到中国,是最早译成中文的西方长篇小说,其汉译本已达三十多种,并不断有新译本面世.本文从《天路历程》宾威廉和王汉川汉译本比较入手,分析从归化到异化的翻译策略发展态势,同时探讨其间的中西语言文化异同.

From Domestication to Foreignization——Comparison between the Chinese Translation Versions of The Pilgrim's Progress

The argument on the translation strategies of domestication and foreignization has been in existence all through the Sino-foreign translation history,whose advantages and disadvantages and their choices are varied.The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan has always been regarded as one of the Christian classics,which attracted the attention of the missionary very early and was translated into Chinese,as the earliest translation of the western novels.The Chinese translation versions are over 30,and ushering in new ones.The thesis deals with the comparison between the two Chinese rendering versions ofThe Pilgrim's Progress by William Chalmers Burns and Wang Hanchuan,so as to analyze the translation strategic trend from domestication to foreignization,and explore the similarity and dissimilarity of Sino-Occidental languages and cultures involved.
