| Abstract: | This paper argues that the conflict between Confucian and Taoist school is essentially the conflict is between the outlooks on order and on freedom. In the Song Dynasty, the conflict is manifested as the disputes between Neo-cocfucianism and Anti-neo-confucianism. The dispute between Cheng Yi and Su Shi is the early manifestation of these disputes, which involves the relation between moral principles ed human desires. The author analyses the Neo-confucian outlook on moral principles and selfish desires which is the background of the dispute between Cheng Yi and Su Shi. |
