| Abstract: | In poetry translation, the principle is formulated as representation of the spirit of the source text with beauty in meaning, sound and form (Three Beauties), which, abstract as it is, is realized in practice of translation. Four English versions of the Chinese classic poem Stream and Snow compared here typically illustrate some specific requirements and evaluations in the light of this principle, and intensively suggest that the key to the principle lies in the organic unity of "Three Beauties" . |
