On the Humanistic Dimension of Marx's Criticism of Modernity

Modernity has emancipated mankind and brought forth modern civilization by destroying traditional authorities,values,and institutions,but the paradox is: modernity has at the same created new shackles for humanity.When modernity was growing rapidly,Marx,as a thinker outside the system of its mechanism,offered his reflection and criticism of modernity.Through his observations of humans,he found that modernity has brought mankind into the crisis of alienation and meaninglessness.Therefore,the emancipation of mankind has become an intrinsic demand of social transformations.This reflection surpassed the limits of his age and showed concern over the destiny of mankind in general,thereby revealing the humanistic dimension of Marx's critical theory and pursuit.It is argued that such a position is worth contemplating when modernity is spreading across the world and is pursued ardently in China.
