| Abstract: | This paper illustrates the relationship between metaphor and humor,how speakers use metaphors in discourse for humorous purpose,the metaphoric cognitive processes that relate to the creation of humour in discourse,and what the study of humour in discourse reveals about the nature of metaphoricity.This can be done by considering how cognitive theories of metaphor and blending account for the generation of humour in discourse. |
