在先秦政治论题中,仁、义的意义及其相互关系,十分重要。"仁",是本于自然人性的政治原则;"义",是根据自然人性原则制定的引导性原则;"仁"与"义"相合衍生出"礼",为可见的政治制度。因此,对政制品质的考察,需要还原到仁义问题,甚至最终还原到道德问题。

Lao Zi and Confucius' Discussion of Benevolence and Righteousness
