Deng Xiao-ping and the Normalization of Sino-American Relations

As one of the most significant events in the field of internatio nal relations in the twentieth century, the normalization of China-U.S. relation s is the result of the progression of and the changes in the situation of the wo rld and of both countries in that century.A result that is attributable to the g reat foresight,extraordinary political wisdom and courage based on correct judge ment made by the leaders of both countries. Mao Ze-dong, Nixon, Zhou Enlai and Ki ssing er achieved for the first time the breakthrough in the frozen Sino-U.S.relations and laid a solid foundation for a new kind of relations be tween the two countries. Deng Xiao-ping played an important part in the decision -making process of the normalization of China-U.S. relations. He realized the am bition Mao Ze-dong had been striven for in his later years of life.
