汉代属国兵的特点和历史作用

Features and Historical Significance of the Army in the Vassal Areas of the Han Dynasty

In the Han Dynasty,the system of vassal areas was employed to manage the submitted minority nationalities tribes,and at the same time,the armies with particular characteristics in these areas were established to defend the borders.The development of the armies in vassal areas witnessed a gradual evolution and the increase of its numbers.The differences between them and the central army lie in the aspects such as leadership system,military service,and military branch and so on.Since the period of Emperor Wudi,the armies in the vassal areas became an important armed force in the border,which not only consolidated the border of the Han Dynasty,lay foundation for China's territory,strengthened the nation's unity and social stability,and enhanced the development and communication of economy and culture in the minority nationality regions,but also was the practice of the defence thoughts and policies of the Han Dynasty in the border,which provided enlightenment for the following dynasties to manage the ethnic problems.
