The Cost of a Calling? Clergywomen and Work in the Church of England

This article explores the work of clergywomen in the Church of England within an analysis of the Church as a gendered organization. We highlight the sex discrimination they often face, at the same time as satisfaction with their work and the need to follow their calling regardless of the difficulties. This is explained through an analysis of the significance of religious calling and the requirement for ‘sacrifice’ on their ability to endure their work and to challenge discriminatory treatment.

A note on statistical method for genotype calling of high-throughput single-nucleotide polymorphism arrays

We study the genotype calling algorithms for the high-throughput single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) arrays. Building upon the novel SNP-robust multi-chip average preprocessing approach and the state-of-the-art corrected robust linear model with Mahalanobis distance (CRLMM) approach for genotype calling, we propose a simple modification to better model and combine the information across multiple SNPs with empirical Bayes modeling, which could often significantly improve the genotype calling of CRLMM. Through applications to the HapMap Trio data set and a non-HapMap test set of high quality SNP chips, we illustrate the competitive performance of the proposed method.     

幼儿教师使命感对工作投入的影响：组织工具性的中介作用

幼儿教师工作使命感对提高教育工作的实效性,增强幼儿教师自身的职业幸福感具有十分积极的影响。本研究采用CVQ问卷、组织工具性问卷和工作投入问卷对广州、佛山和中山共31所幼儿园的305名幼儿教师进行问卷调查。分析结果表明,幼儿教师的工作使命感可以显著地正向预测她们的工作投入度,且组织工具性起着部分中介的作用。     

知识型员工职业召唤、职业承诺与工作态度关系研究

对中国情景下知识型员工的职业召唤对组织承诺、工作满意度、离职意愿等工作态度的影响以及职业承诺在职业召唤与上述工作态度的中介作用进行实证检验。基于自我决定理论和已有关于召唤的相关研究结论,提出职业召唤-职业承诺-工作态度的关系假设模型,并以981位国有、民营及外(合)资企业的知识型员工作为研究对象,通过结构方程建模进行实证检验。研究结果表明,中国情景下知识型员工的职业召唤对组织承诺、工作满意度和离职意愿均有显著正向影响,职业承诺完全中介职业召唤与工作满意度和离职意愿的关系,部分中介职业召唤与组织承诺的关系。在中国情景下验证西方关于职业召唤的研究结论,结果表明职业召唤的培养对企业知识型员工的职业承诺、组织承诺和工作满意度均具有十分重要的作用,为职业召唤理论在中国情景下的验证和完善以及知识型员工的管理理论和企业实践提供新的视角。     

汉代社会女性角色对招降活动的影响

在汉代历史上,一些女性作为独特角色跻身于招降活动的不同场合。引人注目的是,她们从不同层面影响着汉代历史上的招降活动,这种影响主要表现在四方面:一是亲自主持招降活动;二是直接参与招降活动;三是被动成为维系招降活动成果的重要纽带;四是被动作为招降活动的诱饵出现。正是由于汉代历史上的一些女性从不同层面主动或被动地参与招降活动,从而使得汉代历史上的女性角色与招降活动之间形成一种互动关系,从一个侧面反映出比较开放的汉代妇女独立参与政治的意识。     

中华法系罪刑相适应原则探源——试论西周中刑原则

西周时期在"明德慎罚"思想的指导下,确立了中刑、中罚原则,主张在刑罚运行中坚持罪刑相适应.其主要体现在,它规定了自首从轻、疑罪从赦、宽恤刑罚的处罚原则,区分了故意与非故意、偶犯与惯犯(初犯与再犯),将犯罪动机作为定罪量刑的标准.中刑、中罚原则的"中"指轻重适中,恰到好处,反映了"明德慎罚"思想在西周不同时期的发展与变化,是对周初轻刑思想的修正,开创了中华法系罪刑相适应原则的先河,是日后诸多刑法适用原则的源头,从中也能体察到现代刑法理论的踪迹,对考察中国古代刑法史的发展演变具有重要意义.

Moderators of Career Calling and Job-Search Behaviors Among Unemployed Individuals

We examined the relationship between calling, job-search clarity, and job-search intensity in a cross-sectional study of Italian unemployed job seekers (N = 315). Structural equation modeling with observed variables and latent moderated structural equation models were adopted to test whether optimism, self-esteem, and perseverance moderate the relation between calling, job-search clarity, and job-search intensity. Perceiving a calling was positively related with job-search clarity and intensity, and these relations were stronger in individuals with lower levels of optimism, self-esteem, and perseverance. This study suggests that perceiving a calling is an important personal resource that is related to a clearer job-search goal and to more intense job-search activities and can support job seekers in personal adverse conditions. These results suggest integrating job-search behaviors in the work-as-calling theory and that incorporating the construct of calling into career counselors' practices may increase the efficacy of job-search activities.
