Intergenerational resource tensions in the workplace and beyond: Individual,interpersonal, institutional,international

The workforce is rapidly aging. Already at record highs, labor force participation rates of both over-55 and over-65 age segments are expected to nearly double in the immediate future. The current chapter describes how these sweeping demographic changes necessitate both the unprecedented utilization of older workers and intergenerational collaboration, but also present the danger of heightened generational tension. We describe the specific risk factors for such tensions, highlighting the presence of generational boundaries at multiple levels: (a) individual, (b) interpersonal, (c) institutional, and (d) international. Drawing from our own work and relevant management literature, we then identify three broad domains within which intergenerational tensions are particularly salient at each of these levels: active Succession tensions over enviable resources and influence (e.g., employment), passive Consumption tensions over shared asset usage (e.g., healthcare) and symbolic Identity tensions over figurative space (e.g., cultural fit) (SCI). We conclude with suggestions for potential interventions, and major open areas for future organizational research, both of which should focus on how to maximize the utility of unprecedented intergenerational collaboration.

聂茂先生的《民族寓言的张力》,站在全球化理论前沿,结合中国的特殊国情和本土文化的具体语境,借助于西方话语体系对中国新时期文学进行解读。其既对各个文学思潮中的经典文本进行“解码”,又对各个时期创作群体的特征进行“把脉”式的“阐释”,希望借此获得“历时”的“深度”,一种“共时”的“广度”,以及一种立体的“厚度”。聂茂先生通过这种精细解读,将一堆堆隐藏在材料之下的作品原义最大限度地呈现出来了。在他看来,中国新时期文学创作群体的共同努力,不仅冲击了第一世界文化霸权的“自在预想”,而且修补、充实、拓展和丰富了西方话语体系之本身,中国新时期文学在“世界文学”的大家庭中有着“不可轻忽”的意义。     

甜菜碱与羧甲基纤维素钠相互作用的研究

本文通过表面张力法和粘度法研究了十四烷基甜菜碱(C_(14)BE)与羧甲基纤维素钠(CMC-Na)的相互作用,并通过紫外吸收光谱法对其作用机理进行了探讨。发现在pH=2时,两者由于静电吸引作用而形成复合物,pH=7时无复合物生成,但对彼此的性质仍有影响。外加盐促进了两者间氢键的形成,使pH=7的情况下也产生了复合物。     

Difficult differences pave the creative road from diversity to performance

In this article, we argue that engagement with differences is important for the relationship between diversity and organizational performance. This importance is explained by the increased potential for creativity and innovation coming out of working in diverse teams. We recognize that difference and diversity can act as a double-edged sword for creativity and also contend that such differences are a fundamental condition for novelty and value to emerge. It is because of differences and not despite them that we create at individual, group, and organizational levels and a European approach to this topic – given Europe's history and philosophical traditions – recognizes the major role played of creative tensions and even conflict in innovation and in society more broadly. In this paper, we review literature that relates creativity and business performance, creativity, and diversity and examine the role of disagreement and tension, both conceptually and based on empirical evidence. We conclude by stressing the point that creativity often comes out of difficult differences, a European lesson that is easily forgotten, in Europe as well as globally.     

“仁”的内在张力与从孔子到孟子的话语转型

仁自身包含的内在精神张力,决定了其作为道德评判尺度在实际运用方式上的复杂性。孟子的主要贡献,是将仁所包含的内在性精神张力,展开成为仁与义之间的外在性范畴对立。仁侧重于主体道德立场的积极性呈现,义侧重于其消极性呈现;仁侧重于情感瞩望,义侧重于规范约束,仁和义各有侧重,形成相互限制、相互支持的关系,有效提升了儒家道德观念应对矛盾而复杂的现实的能力。这种展开有助于避免"仁"与诸如"兼爱"之类观念的混同。周礼是孔子建构仁学的历史文化依托,从仁到仁和义的分化,与周礼的结构模式之间也存在对应性关系。

寺坊组织是寺与坊的结合体，在社会风险日益剧增的今天，寺坊组织的功能和作用是不容忽视的。文章以组织制度为视角，通过对寺—坊与寺坊组织的内涵进行解读，系统而深入地分析了寺坊组织与回族社区的内在逻辑，即互动与共生。在此基础上阐述了寺坊组织在回族社区中的张力和限度，进一步阐析了寺坊组织与回族社区的内在生存机理。     

本雅明美学思想的内在张力

艺术生产理论是本雅明美学思想的核心,充满着多维性和矛盾性。本雅明既留恋传统艺术营造的诗意境地,又对以技术为基础的现代艺术持欢迎态度,因而其思想中技术和灵韵、震惊和经验、神学救赎和政治等内容并行不悖地存在着,使读者在"诗意的怀旧"与"技术的乐观"中感受其理论的强烈辐射,这显示了本雅明思想的巨大张力。

Transforming Teaching and Learning in South Africa: First Year in the Bachelor of Social Work

The South African qualification for social work was transformed in 2003, along with other transforming post-apartheid policies and practices since the first democratic government was elected in 1994. The educational collective was committed to outcomes-based approaches which were legislated by statutory bodies emphasising redress of previous inequities. The new Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is accordingly criterion-based and measured by 27 exit level outcomes, giving direct guidance which assists historically disadvantaged students and facilitates entry to qualifications as intended by the current South African reform. The BSW replaces the previous Bachelor of Arts in Social Work [BA (SW)] which was norm-based and relied on good students educated in historically advantaged institutions. The political history and context for the new qualification is presented and typical difficulties experienced during the first year are referenced. With the BSW being due for revision in 2012, a research project on its teaching and learning in the first year was commissioned in 2010 by the Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions. A section of this project is presented here. Consistent with the international literature, human and material resources emerge as very important in providing academic support. Tension between policies and practice should provide a good basis for revising the BSW.
